Things to Do in Chicago in November

The calendar of fun things to do definitely begins winding down in November. Gone are the summer festivals, concerts and sporting events. But it’s not all hum-drum and dreary in November  – the action just moves more indoors until the end of the month. After November 24, Christmas events begin, beckoning visitors and locals to bundle up and venture back outdoors.

November 3, 10, 17 – Free admission at the Art Institute from 5pm to 8pm and free admission at the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum all day

November 11  – Pilsen 2nd Friday Artwalk. One of my favorite monthly events, the Artwalk is held at galleries in Pilsen, around 18th and Halsted. Free wine and cheese and great art make this is an excellent (and low-cost) night out. 6pm-10pm

November 6, 13, 20 – DuSable Museum of African American History from noon – 5pm

November 18 Ice-skating begins in Millennium Park

November 25 – Daley Plaza Christkindlmarkt open through Christmas Eve

November 24 – McDonald’s Thanksgiving Day Parade
